Swanson Open supporting First Tee of Austin

Fellow AAGmember, Adam O’Neal, has created a charity scramble event in memory of a close friend and creating a scholarship through The First Tee of Greater Austin. The Inaugural Swanson Open will take place on Saturday, October 20 at 1:00pm at the newly renovated Forest Creek Golf Club in Round Rock. If you are not available this date he’s also looking for hole sponsors and general donations towards the scholarship. Here is the rest of the details from Adam:

Justin Swanson was a very close friend of mine that passed away on August 23, 2017 from a massive pulmonary embolism at the age of 34. The purpose of starting this golf tournament is for all the friends and family of Justin to come together every year to celebrate his life. Justin loved golf and had a positive influence on the youth (especially his nephews and at his church). The proceeds from the tournament will be used to create the Justin Swanson Scholarship through The First Tee of Greater Austin to help a kid achieve higher education.

The cost is $100 per player and will include your green fee, range balls and a burger bar after the round. Mulligans and raffle prizes will be available, and we’ll have games on the course including longest drive and closest to the pin.

This tournament is open to anyone so please share it with anyone you think would be interested in playing or sponsoring. Please visit this link for more information about registering for the tournament, and for donating or sponsoring – https://thefirstteeaustin.thankyou4caring.org/the-inaugural-swanson-open. You must register and pay through this link via The First Tee in order to play.

Bluebonnet Cup registration deadline extended to Sep. 20

From Dylan Lemke, Head Pro at Bluebonnet Hills G.C.:
As many of you are aware, the 2018 Bluebonnet Cup is coming this weekend September 22 & 23. The original entry deadline was yesterday, September 16. We have decided to extend the entry deadline until Thursday September 20. With all that is going on with families, other golfing schedules, etc. I understand some people may need to wait until a little closer to firmly commit.
I am hoping to have the field finalized by 6:30 pm so that way I will be able to get tee times posted on Thursday evening.
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I always enjoy hosting this event for you players and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
If you also are looking at getting a little practice round in, we have a Friday skins game starting at 12:00 this upcoming Friday. Grab your buddies and come check out the shape of the course. It’s in as nice of condition as I have seen in the 8 years I’ve been here.
