Texas Sr. Amateur complete – points are updated

logoThe 2019 Texas Senior Amateur was played this weekend at The Deerwood Club, in Humble, TX.  Gary Durbin, of Houston, came from six shots back to claim the title with a final round 73, for a 3-day total of 1-over par 217.

Austin’s Larry Nunez and Chris Hartenstein were the only two golfers from Austin that earned points.  The point rankings have been updated and represent the current Senior points race.

Updated 2019 point rankings through Men’s Sr. City, US and TX Mid-Amateur

Point rankings have been updated through the Men’s Sr. City Championship, the US Mid-Amateur and the Texas Mid-Amateur.

The final two events on the schedule are the Texas Senior Amateur (Sept. 27-29) and the Austin Mid-Amateur Match Play (October 4-6).

The final Rudy’s Cup points calculations will me made October 7th, giving 2019 captain Greg Smith his 8 automatic Mid-Amateur qualifiers, 2 Senior qualifiers and a list from which to choose 3 Mid-Am captain’s picks and 1 Senior captain’s picks. This year’s Rudy’s Cup is being hosted at Fairway Oaks C.C. in San Antonio.

Gene Black wins Men’s Sr. City Championship

Image 279Congratulations to Gene Black for winning the 2019 Men’s Sr. City Championship, firing a final round 71 (1-under) for a two-day total of 3-under (141), and a one shot victory over Randy Reynolds at 2-under (142).  Black held off a birdie-birdie finish by Randy Reynolds by finishing birdie-par to seal the victory.

Chris Hartenstein and Steve Trafton finished tied for third place at 1-over (145), followed by Kevin Dahl at 3-over (147) for solo fourth.

Point rankings and final leaderboard have both been updated.
