Barrett Sandefur wasted no time on Sunday, making four birdies to one bogey on the front 9, eventually closing with a birdie and an eagle on the back nine to post a final round 6-under 66 and closing with an eight shot victory (9-under 135) in the 2018 Morris Williams Spring Championship. Congratulations Barrett on a heck of a final round.
The top of the leader board certainly has a Rudy’s Cup flavor to it, with Barrett Sandefur carding 5 birdies en route to a 3-under par score of 69 in the first round of the 2018 Spring Championship, held at Morris Williams Golf Course. Ben Carter also carded 5 birdies, along with more more bogey than Sandefur, to sit one shot behind, with a 2-under par 70. Defending Austin Men’s City Champion Jonathan Alden nabbed 7 birdies, offset by a few rough holes to finish with a 1-under par score of 71. Nathan Schwarz sits at Even par, and six golfers are tied at 1-over par: Gene Black, Matt Wernecke, Chris Hartenstein, Robert Evans, Mike Allen and Bret Hutchens.
Tee times for the 2018 Morris Williams Spring Championship have been posted. 85 golfers are prepared to de-throne Jay Reynolds in the opening event of the 2018 season. Good luck to all.
