Nick Schafer wins Austin City Championship by 3 strokes; Estelle Beck cruises to defend her title
Nick Schafer played steady in the final round of the 2023 Austin City Championship, holding off a charge by Jonathan Alden, and earned his second major victory of the year. Schafer finished with an 8-under par total of 207, after a final round 69 (-2). He adds another trophy for 2023, winning the Firecracker Open last month. Alden fired a final round 67 (-4) to finish 3 shots back.

Only four golfers shot under par in the final round, with Alden making the biggest leap up the leaderboard, moving up 7 spots to his runner up finish. Mierl and Schmitz, who both held the lead at one point in the tournament, could not mount a significant push to Schafer on the last day. Schafer has put his name on the map with victories at both the Firecracker Open and Men’s City Championship – a tremendous accomplishment. Congratulations Nick!
In the women’s division, Estelle Beck successfully defended her 2022 victory, with an impressive weekend of golf, finishing 14-under par, shooting 69-65-67 for a 201 total and a 22 stroke victory over her closest competitor, Briana LeMaire. Well played, Estelle.

The Austin City Championship also awards top finishers in the following categories: Low Junior, Low Senior, Low Mid Amateur. Congratulations to these finishers:
Low Junior: Kaden Frierson (+12)
Low Senior: Joe Ramos (+3)
Low Mid Amateur: Nick Schafer (-8)
