Fellow AAGmember, Adam O’Neal, has created a charity scramble event in memory of a close friend and creating a scholarship through The First Tee of Greater Austin. The Inaugural Swanson Open will take place on Saturday, October 20 at 1:00pm at the newly renovated Forest Creek Golf Club in Round Rock. If you are not available this date he’s also looking for hole sponsors and general donations towards the scholarship. Here is the rest of the details from Adam:
Justin Swanson was a very close friend of mine that passed away on August 23, 2017 from a massive pulmonary embolism at the age of 34. The purpose of starting this golf tournament is for all the friends and family of Justin to come together every year to celebrate his life. Justin loved golf and had a positive influence on the youth (especially his nephews and at his church). The proceeds from the tournament will be used to create the Justin Swanson Scholarship through The First Tee of Greater Austin to help a kid achieve higher education.
The cost is $100 per player and will include your green fee, range balls and a burger bar after the round. Mulligans and raffle prizes will be available, and we’ll have games on the course including longest drive and closest to the pin.
This tournament is open to anyone so please share it with anyone you think would be interested in playing or sponsoring.
