A blue wave hit Tapatio Springs on Sunday, with Team Austin winning their Singles matches 9.5 – 4.5, clinching the 2022 Rudy’s I-35 Cup by a score of 17-11. A strong early wave, and another strong late wave was plenty to have the Cup in hand with 5 matches remaining on the course. Grady Bruce was 1-down in his match most of the day, but rallied late to tie things up at the 16th, and hold on for a halved-match, good enough for the Cup-clinching half point. This avenged Grady’s last trip to San Antonio as team captain in 2017 – congratulations Grady!
Jonathan Alden, Mike Harwood and Jay Reynolds went a perfect 3-0, while Grady Bruce went undefeated with a weekend score of 2-0-1. Singles match results are shown below. Austin has won back to back Cups, with the match returning to home turf next year in the Austin area, location TBD.
